Ganesh murti punarvartan
A special assembly was conducted to initiate the idea of disposing of the sludge after Ganesh immersion in an eco-friendly manner by PUNARAVARTAN ORGANIZATION.
Punaravartan Campaign
Ganeshotsav is considered one of our country’s auspicious and most celebrated festivals. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha’s murtis privately and publicly. But after the celebration and immersion of the Ganesh murtis, it makes the water dirty and ends up polluting the Mother Earth.
In an effort to curb pollution during the annual Ganeshotsav, “eCoexist foundation” has launched a ‘Punaravartan campaign’ that aims to collect and recycle natural clay from the Ganesh murti after the immersions during the Ganesh festival. A session was organized on 27th September 2023 for all the secondary students at SPM English school, Pune to spread awareness to achieve a zero-waste festival. Suchismita Pai, the spokesperson introduced the whole idea of the campaign. The sludge is collected after the immersion, it is stored in a cloth bag and hung to drain over the excess water and this clay is handed over to the artisans to make a beautiful Ganesh murti out of it. The murtis are totally made of natural clay without using any colors. Shama Deo also showed the students the beautiful murti of our beloved lord Ganesh which was made from recycled clay.
The session ended with a breathtaking dance performance by Sayali Patwardhan, a talented dancer and actor. Through her dance, she presented the cyclic nature of Life and Ecology. This performance was highly enjoyed by our students as well as the teachers.
This was a delightful experience for all the students to understand the whole concept of recycling and reusing the created waste into something very beautiful and offering a luminous example for others on the journey towards a sustainable future.
